 Our Inspiration - Tito

"We are both teacher and student;our inner wisdom is part of how we know which role we embrace when."

Interactive Pet Therapy

Interactive Pet Therapy is a combination of Reiki, mentoring and play. Depending on the client and their individual needs I will bring either Aine or Tucker with me to their home for an hour. While the client interacts with Aine and Tucker we will be discussing what challenges lay before them, what their goals and ambitions are and at the same time I will be conducting Reiki from a distance. The energy which each of the animals bring with them is healing energy; their unconditional love and abundance of joy offers a deeper level of healing than most other healings. The healing with the animals is at the heart center; the healing of the heart center allows the client to become more open to receiving joy into their lives thus allowing for them to obtain a state of gratitude.

How was I inspired to start Interactive Pet Therapy?

To give you a bit of background it all really started the night before finding out Tito had bone cancer when I had attended a fundraising dinner for Providence Hospital in Portland Oregon. During the auctioning off of the Christmas trees we were given a presentation of the newly constructed center for Medically Fragile Children. I went home feeling as though this is something that Tito and I can do together; to hopefully make a difference in children's lives which have been affected by cancer or other incurable diseases.

I worked with the Volunteer Director at the Medically Fragile Center for Children in Portland to start a Pet Therapy Program. We were fortunate enough that Tito was able to make one visit to the center prior to leaving us. Following Tito's death I knew it was something I wanted to continue. Adopting Aine just 10 days following Tito's death was for two reasons. I needed her help in working through my own grief and to also continue what Tito had started. Adopting Tucker in February again was two fold - we always wanted two dogs and realizing what I was creating with Therapy in Transition I knew I needed to have a second dog available to work with clients.

Aine is an amazingly gentle, loving, and warm spirited being who's only purpose is to bring joy to everyone she meets. Aine more than met my expectations in helping me work through my own grief and I know she will be an asset to everyone we work with through our Interactive Pet Therapy sessions. Tucker's fun loving and quick spirit will be an asset to those who certainly find themselves needing a joyful and energetic pick-me-up.

Until Aine & Tucker have reached their first designation which is tentatively the fall of 2007; their time will be on a volunteer basis with the request of donations to cover the cost gas. We will be launching an organic/natural hand and body product line "Tito's Touch" in the fall of 2007. 95% of all net profits will be used to reduce the cost of the Interactive Pet Therapy program as our intention is for the Pet Therapy to become completely free of charge to those who request this service; the other 5% of the net profits will be donated to our favorite charity Sponsor a Teacher Program.
