The Healthiness of Hope

How often do you start a sentence with "I hope"? Hope is a funny thing. On the one hand, it expresses your belief that things can and might well be better or go your way. On the other hand, hope is a little bit scary. After all, the simple act of hope means you might end up disappointed if it doesn't pan out the way you, well, hoped.

Here's what you need to know, though. Hope indicates you're at least somewhat optimistic, and optimism is a powerful thing. In fact, research clearly shows that people who embrace optimism have better, happier lives. This week, see where you can work a little extra hope into your life. And while you're at it, I challenge you to do something that might help that hope come to fruition.
