Degrees of Persistence

Complaining, criticizing, freaking out, nagging, whining and yelling generally don't get you what you want from a colleague, friend, spouse or other family member. Generally, directly and clearly asking for what you want has a higher success rate, but it isn't a sure-fire technique. Sometimes you need to practice gentle persistence.

To employ this technique, you'll have to learn how to maintain focus on your objective and ask the other person to commit or participate repeatedly. The trick is to do this without sounding impatient, overbearing, pushy or critical. Being gently persistent has its foundation in your belief that the other person is reasonable and wants to cooperate but for whatever reason hasn't "heard" you. This persistence lets the other person know you're experiencing an important problem that needs resolution and that you're kindly but firmly refusing to relinquish your power in creating wonderful, important things in your life together.

Tito's Wisdom

"The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is, that one often comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't." ~ Henry Ward Beecher

Coaching Announcement
Ready for Change? Special Discounted Coaching Offer!

Are you ready? Or are you nervous, uncertain, worried? I've just started a new chapter of my own, and those descriptive words have been running through my mind ever since I welcomed my baby girl Phebe into my life on May 10.

My clients have noticed how easy it is to embrace change when they are living in balance and when they move through a program tailored to their personal situations. I am offering YOU the same opportunity with a huge savings: a six-month program for the same investment as a three-month program.

What's the catch? I have room to partner with only a limited number of individuals, so make sure you contact me today and register now to get started in achieving the life you desire and deserve! Learn more here

This Week's Hot Blog
Tenacity

I just spent most of my day volunteering to review resumes for job seekers. I worked non-stop and ended the day completely exhausted. It's something I love to do because it's a way to really connect with people. Because the need is great these days, the time I'm able to spend with each individual is short. In order to serve these individuals, I need to be totally present to the person with whom I'm working.

Before getting down to business, I want to put the person at ease so I begin the process by asking her to tell me about herself and who she is. I want to hear her stories. It's amazing how open a person will be if you only show interest. These individuals shared their dreams, goals, aspirations, frustrations and concerns.
