Insight from Animals
By TITO Admin ~ 8/24/2010
Animals play such important roles in our lives, but so often we think of them only as pets, nuisances and food sources. But there's so much animals can teach us, from how teamwork (think of ants and bees) to courtship strategies (picture the peacock's bright plumage) to how to listen to our intuition (consider how the rainforest creatures hurried for higher ground well before the devastating 2005 tsunami in the Indian Ocean hit land). This week try to learn one thing from the animal kingdom, whether it's from the chirping cicada hiding in your house or your family's favorite four-legged friend.
Tito's Wisdom
"What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of spirit. For whatever happens to the beasts, soon happens to man. All things are connected." ~ Chief Seattle

Special Announcement
Blue Butterfly Campaign Golf Tournament
Date: August 27, 2010
Time: 1:30 p.m.
Location: Langdon Farms Golf Course in Wilsonville, Oregon
Therapy in Transition is pleased to sponsor the first annual Blue Butterfly Campaign Golf Tournament, a fundraising event benefiting those who suffer from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The leading cause of death among children, leukemia research has shockingly low funds at its disposal. In addition to raising money for research, the Blue Butterfly Campaign provides an online resource directory for families and friends of children with cancer. Once a doctor makes such a diagnosis, they often find the journey overwhelming and difficult; as such, the campaign supports those people by collecting and categorizing the best information available under one easy-to-navigate umbrella so they can more easily locate the many wonderful organizations. The Blue Butterfly Campaign seeks to provide a gateway that includes leading childhood cancer experts, financial aid, support groups, books, counselors and much more. Therapy in Transition is thrilled to be part of this fundraising effort. You can learn more about the Blue Butterfly Campaign here.

Interaction with Your Animal Totems
As a young child I always loved animals; dogs of course were my favorite, but any animal really fascinated me. This didn’t mean I wasn’t cautious or timid of certain animals, but I did have a healthy respect for them. There were times I thought I could understand them, but I always wrote it off as my being silly. Over time, though, I’ve come to realize that actually each interaction held a special gift—and if I was open enough to receiving it, I would. During my personal growth journey I’ve learned a little about animal totems and how they can be wonderful guides in your journey toward spiritual enlightenment. The following are six different approaches to learning how animals can support us and how we can, in turn, actually seek their guidance when we know how to interact with them. In previous blogs I’ve shared my experience of learning how to discern which animals are part of your totem, so this blog will focus on the available modalities we can use.
