Belaboring the Point
By TITO Admin ~ 8/31/2010
By the time you receive your next eNewsletter from Therapy in Transition, the United States will have celebrated Labor Day. Often we look at this as a "free" day off work or just part of an extended weekend and a symbol of summer's end, but it's also about government, society and employers acknowledging their appreciation for the hard work you've put in. This Labor Day, take a moment amid the backyard barbecues and public parades to pat YOURSELF on the back for everything you've accomplished since last year's observance of the holiday, and set one goal for how you'll improve your performance this year.
Tito's Wisdom

Special Announcement
Blue Butterfly Campaign Golf Tournament
Date: August 27, 2010
Time: 1:30 p.m.
Location: Langdon Farms Golf Course in Wilsonville, Oregon
Therapy in Transition was pleased to sponsor the first annual Blue Butterfly Campaign Golf Tournament, a fundraising event benefiting those who suffer from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The leading cause of death among children, leukemia research has shockingly low funds at its disposal. The Blue Butterfly Campaign seeks to provide a gateway that includes leading childhood cancer experts, financial aid, support groups, books, counselors and much more.
Therapy in Transition was thrilled to be part of this fundraising effort. Preliminary reports indicate the event raised $15,000, which the Blue Butterfly Campaign will use to continue to provide an online resource directory for families and friends of children with cancer. We'll keep you updated on any new developments.

Is Your Canine Best Friend a Therapist?
When I adopted Tito, never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate he would become the type of dog suited to support others in transitions, challenges and personal journeys. But slowly, after he out grew his puppy, teenage and young adult stages and matured, his true inner beauty and kind heart emerged. Now, looking at my dogs Aine and Tucker I can see their inner healers boldly shining. Aine, the gentle soul, was born ready to be a Pet Therapist and will be able to officially wear her vest by the end of August 2010, whereas Tucker will take a few years to mature before stepping into this roll. But I’m patient!
When you look at your dog, do see “just” a dog or do you see a healer? If you want to spread some happiness through your friendly and loving pet, then it truly begins with you. Your intention and attitude toward your dogs will empower them to expose this healing side sooner rather than later (or, sadly, never).
