Personal Touch

How can I maintain a level of personal touch with my clients and colleagues when using the internet? It seems so impersonal at times.

Personal Touch

I concur with Karen, Ingrid, although I find the proliferation of content bombarding me via email and all this "helpful and necessary" social media stuff to be not just a bit overwhelming, but rather altogether mind-melting at times. As a result of the volume, people's attention spans are dwindling, and so I often find that messages -- some very important -- get lost in the "Internet ethers" quite a bit now.

My point is that maybe the Internet just isn't the answer to maintaining personal touch with your comrades. This may mean that your opportunity to show a personal touch would be to diverge from the trendy path of Internettery and send a homemade card or hand written letter on your business stationary.

Hope that helps relieve the burden! :)

Re: Personal Touch

Hi Ingrid,
Great question! Thanks for asking.
What I have found that works nicely is to make sure I respond in a timely manner and be consistent with this timing. Whether you are getting back to people within a few minutes or within a few hours. Additionally, I recommend making sure you open all your emails with a greeting of some sort. Even if you are having a going back and forth type of correspondence as well as making sure you close with statement that provides the feeling of warmth.
I hope these few helpful tips you find helpful.

Namaste,
Karen
