Perfect Moment Monday: Summer Butterfly

Each week I participate in Perfect Moment Monday, sponsored by WeeblesWobblog.com. According to Weebles, "Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one. Perfect Moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between." And so, here is a Perfect Moment for this week.

Last week I was meditating outside our home in the beautiful garden my husband Tom has so carefully created over the past two years.

After taking a landscaping class at one of the local nurseries, he created a drawing of how he wanted our front lawn to look. He loves to relax by planting, tending, watering and even weeding the yard to keep it looking just so. His hard work has paid off because it is quite beautiful. His drawing has come to life!

As I opened my eyes after the meditation, a beautiful, big, yellow butterfly flew about 10 feet in front of me and was dancing around some lovely purple flowers we have in the front planter.

Butterflies remind me of my Grandma Fay (my mother's mother). She loved butterflies. She passed away a couple of years ago, but every time I see a butterfly I am reminded of what a great woman she was. When I saw this graceful creature float into the garden, I had an inkling Grandma had joined me during my meditation and the butterfly was the manifestation of her energy.

Realizing that I was in the midst of a Perfect Moment, I quietly grabbed my phone/camera so I could get a picture to share with my blog friends.

I was amazed at how close I could get. My camera does not have a zoom, so you can imagine how close I was when I took this shot.

I later looked up the butterfly in one of my favorite books, Animal Speak by Ted Andrews. According to Andrews, butterfly means "transmutation and the dance of joy."

He continues, "When butterflies come into your life look at how much or how little joy is within your life. Lighten up. Look for change. Don't forget that all change is good. Butterfly medicine reminds us to make changes when the opportunities present themselves. Transformation is inevitable, but butterfly will help teach you that growth and change does not have to be traumatic. It will teach you that it can occur as gently, as sweetly, and as joyfully as we wish."

It was a Perfect Moment...and a great reminder to lighten up and have fun!

Wowza!

What a moment that must have been!

So if "all change is good" and "transformation is inevitable," then "good is inevitable, right?

Thanks, Sheri, for this amazing symbolism.
