Intuition and Flow

I did it! I signed up for (and put down a security deposit) to attend the Yoga Teacher Training this summer at the yoga studio where I practice. I have contemplated it before but have never jumped in. This time, however, it feels right. And this isn't just a logical analysis because it comes from an intuitive standpoint.

As I contemplated taking the training in the past, there were several reasons why it wouldn't work: scheduling conflicts, timing and format, etc. While I was deciding it felt difficult, like trying to swim in quicksand. I probably could have made it work, but it would have felt forced. Why would I try to force something to happen? Shouldn't it just flow?

In situations like this I recognize a belief I have about making something work. The belief sounds something like this: "In order to make things happen in my life, I may need to do things that are uncomfortable and possibly difficult. When it gets tough, that's when you press on to make things happen. No pain, no gain."

Just typing that out feels ridiculous! Didn't the "No pain, no gain" philosophy go the way of leg-warmers and somehow disappear as the calendar changed from the 1980s to the 1990s?

If so, why do I continue to let this belief drive my behaviors, encouraging me to force my way through life?

Here's where experience and intuition have taught me something! In the past, when I have forced something it tended to be a difficult path. When I step into flow, things seem to move along quite smoothly (for the most part). And even when difficulties arise, there is still an underlying flow to my decisions.

I have also learned to use my intuition as a guide. I have a simple exercise called the "Ring of Truth." It's an easy way to learn how to recognize, acknowledge and trust your intuitive voice. If you'd like a copy of this exercise, please email me at: sheri@coachwithsheri.com.

As I contemplated taking the Yoga Teacher Training, the decision was so much easier and felt more natural. The day the sign went up at the yoga studio announcing the training, I recognized my intuitive voice practically singing, "Yes! Yes! Yes!" There was no forcing at all. In fact, I feel excited about my decision and the upcoming training.

This experience has not only helped me step forward on my yoga path, but it has also taught me how to better tune into and trust my intuitive voice. It's all about intuition and flow.

Namaste!
