Shiva Lingham

Shiva Lingham is the Jasper-based stone with some impurities that is found in the Ganges River. The shape of the stone is natural in formation and varies in size; however, it is being produced and sold as naturally occurring. The stones that did naturally occur in the rivers got their shape through tumbling down the river and being worked by the water against the bottom of the river.

This particular stone is known as the "The stone of the Kundalini," and its benefits are that it awakens the base energy and encourages it to rise throughout the body through each Chakra until it reaches the Crown Chakra. The Kundalini is considered by Eastern philosophies to be the serpent energy that lies dormant at the base of our spine and needs to be awakened and utilized to bring forth spiritual consciousness.

It also is known to balance the male energy in the body. Through my personal use of this stone I discovered that it not only balances the masculine energy, but because of its effective in raising the energy of the Kundalini, it also balances the feminine energy as we all have masculine and feminine energies within us. As the energy of this stone promotes the rising of the Kundalini energy, it affects each Chakra in a different way. The best way to come to an understanding of the energy of this stone is to work with it and sit with it; I encourage all of you to do just that. All it takes is placing it in your hand during meditation or placing it in your bath water—however you can work it into your daily routine so that you can experience it.

The Lingham Stone

Thank you Rosemary. I often times suggest to my clients and students that they obtain a small lignham stone and place it on their altar as a way to bring in the male energy. So often women who are drawn to the goddess energy or goddess spirituality find it a challenge to have something male on their altars. So it was very helpful to read how it helps to bring the male and female into balance.
