Crystals and Your Chakras: Manipura
By Rosemary Beam ~ 2/23/2010
The solar plexus, the third Chakra Manipura, means “City of Glimmering Gems.” Think of this energy center as the place of your personal power your personal Sun!
This City of Glimmering Gems is located at your solar plexus directly below you breast bone and over your stomach. Manipura’s color emanation is yellow. The element of this Chakra is fire, and the sacred geometry is a triangle. This Chakra governs will, power and assertiveness, and it allows us (if healthy) to be successful in the world. I liken this Chakra to the balanced energy of horse in Native American medicine thought process.
In Sanskrit there are sounds that are called “seed sounds.” These sounds have specific vibrations and can enhance or create balance and healing in the body. The seed sound for the Manipura Chakra is “Ram.” Try chanting this seed sound over and over during meditation and see what occurs for you in your solar plexus.
Solar Plexus/Third Manipura Chakra:
Balanced= Vitality, strength of will, sense of purpose, effectiveness, clear boundaries.
Imbalance= Controlling, rage, stomach ulcers, weight gain around the midriff, inability to slow down, timid, low energy, chronic fatigue, addictions to stimulants (eg., coffee, tea and other substances), hypoglycemia and digestive trouble.
Nutritional support= Complex carbohydrates.
Meditation= Breath of fire/ breath work.
Here is a list of crystals and stones that I recommend working with in the attempt to move into alignment with your power center Manipura. These are some of my favorites, and I have used them in essence form and the crystals/stones themselves. I especially love taking Yellow Sapphire. Because the third chakra is the seat of our intellect, I love taking Yellow Sapphire because it supports that same effort.
