Visualization and Intent in Reiki

Visualization and good intent are two elements that, if combined with Reiki, can make the therapy all the more powerful. Visualization is a very powerful exercise on its own, and conjuring up a mental image of what you want helps your body and mind focus on accomplishing the goals you have set for yourself. When you visualize Reiki healing the body parts you are channeling energy to, you end up using two complementary techniques to heal the same part, thereby making the therapy even more effective.

Using visualization techniques can improve the effectiveness of Reiki therapy.

Even when visualization techniques are used while healing someone else, they help in amplifying Reiki’s power. Reiki practitioners are the channels through which the energy flows, so when a practitioner conjures up mental images of the energy healing the body parts of the recipient (of Reiki), the energy becomes stronger. Remember the Reiki practitioner is just the facilitator or the conduit for the healing energy from the source to flow through; that is, they do not actually do or heal, but rather they provide the opportunity for healing to occur.

As with any other alternative healing technique, the intent is extremely important. Reiki energy picks up on your intent, and the more focused you are on healing, the more powerful Reiki becomes. It is also important not to bring in negative thoughts during a session. Not only does the Reiki practitioner need to keep his mind free of all negative emotions like anxiety, malice, anger, etc., during a Reiki session, but the recipient would be better supported if she also keeps her mind free of all negative thoughts and focuses on the body part to which Reiki is being channeled to and visualize it healing.

Focusing your intention during Reiki therapy can increase the success rate of a treatment.

There are several creative visualization exercises you can use to increase the power of your Reiki session. For example, you may conjure up a mental image of a soft, white light soothing and healing every cell and muscle in the area to which Reiki is being channeled, whether you are the recipient or the practitioner. In distance healing sessions, however, there is not much the recipient can do unless she knows when Reiki is being sent; the practitioner, on the other hand, can use the same visualization technique.

Though Reiki can and does work even in the absence of visualization techniques and intent, using these techniques to complement Reiki is a good idea as they help in accelerating the healing process.

Until next time, embrace your inner wisdom.

Karen
