Sunny Days of Summer
By Karen Kleinwort ~ 6/23/2009
Sunday was the first day of summer, and I realized that beginning now the days are going to be getting shorter. What? Not yet! The summer is just beginning, yet already I'm thinking about what else I'm missing out on during the daylight and the sunny days of summer.
I love the long the days because I seem to have more energy and my creativity is at its peak. Watching the flowers grow, bloom and feed the hungry honey bees, I take a few moments every morning to watch and listen for the lessons held in nature. There are so many, yet only a few are necessary for us to notice and learn from. Our personal growth journey is not that different from the honey bees. Watching as they flit from flower to flower, buzzing by others as if they were not even there, heading directly to the one flower whose nectar resonates with them the most.
In our life we journey through in a similar manner. We fly here, buzz there, stay for awhile close to the hive. We take comfort in while learning and testing our wings. As we grow stronger we venture out further from the hive to mingle with other bees, flies, birds and animals as we begin to share the world around us.
Questioning "Why does that flower not resonate with us?" as we fly by onto the petal of another that does is similar to the question of "Why does that individual not resonate with me?"
The answer becomes clear the more we listen to our inner guidance. Our energy is looking for those out there who can nurture us, comfort us, support us, and empower us to grow stronger until we are confident of our wings. When we do not resonate with another's energy, it does not mean there is anything wrong with them; rather, it just means we are meant to keep looking until the one(s) who provide the best environment for growth is found.
Empower yourself to be still a few moments each day to listen to your own inner guidance system. What is it sharing with you? Are you heading in the right direction, or is there a need for a course correction? Are you in balance, or does one part of you need a little more TLC today than another?
These are the lazy days of summer, so take a few moments to embrace the quietness and stillness to enhance your growth. Until next time, hug yourself and embrace your inner wisdom.
Namaste,
Karen
