Perfect Moment Monday: Love in Any Language
By Karen Kleinwort ~ 8/09/2010
My Perfect Moment for this week …
Growing up in Canada meant my cereal boxes were bilingual, the main road signs were bilingual, and French was one of the core curriculum subjects from third grade through to ninth grade. Having my son be at minimum bilingual is important, especially in the global village in which we live.
My family has a range of cultures. My husband is Hispanic and Spanish is his first language; my brother-in-law is Dutch and speaks at least five languages; and then there is my sister and I being the Canadians. We all are committed to ensuring our children get a great start to being multi-linguists.
My perfect moment this past week was being able to capture this piece of audio of my son parroting his father counting to 20 in Spanish. I may be a little biased, but I think he did pretty well for being two years old. Oh yes, this was the second run-through of counting. And if you pay close attention you’ll hear him identify one of his favorite things near the end.
Until next time, embrace your inner wisdom.
Namaste
Karen
Each week I hold the intention to participate in Perfect Moment Monday, sponsored by Weebles Wobblog. According to Weebles, "Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one.".
