Past Lives and Your Dreams

Dream Interpretation: How to Identify Past-Life Dreams

Dreams associated with our past lives often come at a time when we are dealing with life or relationship situations that may have a karmic link with our past. These dreams are actually past-life memories supporting us to see our present challenges from a higher perspective and shed the associated karmic baggage. For instance, a dream about an abusive relationship in your past life could explain why you share a negative relationship with the same person in your present life.

How to Identify a Past-Life Dream

A past-life dream is very vivid – so much so you will be able to experience and feel every emotion and pain associated with the memory in question.

You may be able to identify the characters in your dream even if they don’t look the same in your present life. If the dream is past-life related, then you will be able to connect with yourself whether or not you look like yourself in the dream; in fact you may see yourself as much younger or older than you really are.

Often, past-life dreams have “another time, another place” feel to them; that is, the clothes, the buildings, the mannerisms, etc., may belong to a time long gone by. And in certain situations these dreams related to your past life are also sequential, i.e. these dreams have a “story-like” quality to them.

Repetitive In Nature

Past-life related dreams are often repetitive in nature, so you may see the dream over and over again until you are able to resolve the issue related to it. For instance, you may continue to have dream about being physically abused by your husband in your past-life, who happens to be a relative for whom you have intense feelings of dislike in your present incarnation. Until you forgive that person and cut your negative karmic connection, your past-life dreams will probably continue.

In some cases the dreams are so vivid, you may actually be able to cross-check the veracity of your dreams by comparing the images you saw with historical facts.

If you have a vivid dream about a place or house you have never been to before, it could be related to your past-life as well. Often, the details you recalled in your dream about a place can be cross-checked. Verifying details of a past-life home, however, would need more extensive research. The meaning of such dreams usually becomes clear if a person decides to follow his/her first instinct after waking up.

Sometimes these dreams plant the idea of visiting said place in the dreamer’s mind, and the subsequent visit may bring a life-altering change or help a person find an unexpected solution to an intriguing life problem. Numerous people have been known to find answers they are seeking while researching a place or home they saw in a dream.

Note-Taking Aids in Finding Solutions

Finally, when you wake up from a past-life dream you will still feel some of the lingering emotions – and in all likelihood you will be able to recall the dream more vividly than your normal dreams. One of the recommendations previously has been to have a journal or note pad on your bedside table to jot down notes about things you remember from the dreams you’ve just had. When identifying a theme which is reoccurring in your dreams through your notes, you will be able to discern not only the lessons or wisdom being received through your dreams but also find solutions to the challenges you have been experiencing all the while, releasing the karmic debt which may have been associated with the past-life.

Until next time, embrace your inner wisdom.

Namaste,
Karen
