Tony Robbins: Motivational Speaker
By Karen Kleinwort ~ 3/02/2010
“There is no such thing as failure. There are only results.”
“Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”
“If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten.”
“You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action.”
Simple words that have inspired millions! Using his thought-provoking quotes is perhaps the best way to introduce the dynamic author and motivational speaker Anthony Robbins (popularly known as Tony).
Robbins’s seminars and books focus on improving our emotional and physical health, making our personal and business relationships more fulfilling, and acquiring and improving upon leadership, time management, and financial management skills. He uses NLP techniques to heal people of their phobias and self-limiting beliefs so they can lead impactful and fulfilling lives.
It was, in fact, his NLP technique which empowered people to release their phobias that helped him climb the ladder of success. On a radio show in Canada, Robbins challenged the listeners to show him a phobia case he could not help the other person overcome. One of the doctors listening to the program responded to the challenge by asking him to support a long-term patient who suffered from an intense phobia of snakes. Subsequently, in a much publicized event Robbins supported said patient with his NLP skills, and within a few minutes the patient overcame his debilitating phobia; Robbins even had him share the stage with a live snake!
Robbins, taking his own advice of creation and expansion, continues to build on his NLP skills—and as a result he developed a new technique called Neuro Associative Conditioning (NAC). According to the NAC philosophy, human behavior is determined by the following factors:
- The need to avoid pain.
- The desire to gain pleasure.
From small decisions like picking one kind of sweet over the other, to big career or relationship decisions, everything we do is associated with avoiding pain and gaining pleasure. From this it follows that the human mind can be conditioned to achieve anything if the associations with overcoming the challenges of the task at hand are changed. For instance, a chain smoker lights a cigarette because he/she associates smoking with pleasure and avoiding the pain of stress; if the neuro-associations with smoking are changed in such a way that he/she starts associating lighting up with pain instead of pleasure, stubbing that butt for good would become easier.
NAC therapists use NLP based techniques to change our neuro-associations so people can let go of their fears, phobias, self-limiting beliefs and even addictions.
The power of this therapy lies in its simplicity. It’s all about using the power of your mind to accomplish whatever goals you have set out for yourself. Thanks to Robbins’s genius we now have a very simple yet effective way to tap into our personal power so we can live emotionally and materially fulfilling lives.
Until next time, embrace your inner wisdom.
Namaste,
Karen

I think I want that book, or
I think I want that book, or better yet I need it. I could use some more motivation in my life at the moment, I think that's what I am missing, I want to do lots of things but I never start, so obviously I need a drive. Tony sounds like one of the best motivational speakers and I sure hope this book has a constructive impact on people.
