Weaving
By Ingrid Kincaid ~ 1/25/2010
What Words Will You Weave this Year?
As the days of January pass by so quickly, I have been meditating on this New Year and wondering as well as imagining how it will unfold and how I will participate. My friend Connie Hill, a gifted astrologer, wrote in her monthly newsletter about the practice she follows each year of finding a word that represents to her a theme or a focus.
I was delighted with the concept and decided to find a word for 2010 that could be my touchstone. As some of you know, I consider words to be more than just sounds. They are beings that vibrate and resonate and are alive, and when I pay attention and give notice to the words I am using, I can quickly see whether my speech is truly in alignment with my thoughts and feelings.
All during this past year I have had a strong sense of the presence of Grandmother Spider. Many cultures and traditions believe her to be the Oldest One. She who creates from the center of her own body the finest threads that are then woven into the fabric of Creation. Grandmother Spider is also seen as the spinner of fate who sits at the hub of her wheel and reminds us that we create possibilities from the power of our own desires. She spins, she weaves, she repairs. In her web she creates as well as destroys.
I moved to Portland, Oregon, from northern California a year ago, and this past year I have done a great deal of spinning of fine silken threads -- filaments that are strong and durable. I believe that this new year is my year for weaving: for taking all these fine threads that have come forth from the center of my being – some of them still floating in the air, some of them perhaps attached or anchored – and working them together to create an intricate new pattern for the fabric of my life. I am a wild, wandering woman who is weaving her world with words and wondering. What word might you discover while wandering and wondering that could best describe your world this year?

Ecpic
As I was reading your Blog and thinking what is my word? "EPIC" sounded in my heart and ears. So I said Ok!
Then I thought what does that word really mean? What does it really mean to ME?
I looked it up and here is what I found and I definetly feel it is completely on target.
Noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition, usually centered upon a hero, in which a series of "great achievements" or "events" is narrated in elevated style: Homer's Iliad is an epic poem.
Note: Figuratively, any task of great magnitude may be called “epic,” as in an “epic feat” or an “epic undertaking.”
And because I know you love words: [From Latin epicus, from Greek epikos, from epos, word, song; see wekw- in Indo-European roots.]
ep'i·cal·ly adv.
So me goal this year is to live Eically!

Words to Weave
Thank you Ingrid. This is a hard question - so many words are coming to me and I am not sure which one best describes where I am at or where I am moving towards! Plentiful ... is one word which is coming to my heart at this moment and certainly rings true for me.
Namaste,
Karen

Plentiful
Karen, what a beautiful word. It is rarely used. This year there seemed to be only words such as lack and struggle and bad economy. I would say, trust your heart. Let the word resonate with you and your spirit. Meditate with it. See if it has a color or a special sound. What is its texture. What does it taste like? How lovely it will be to look back on 2010 and say, "It was a Plentiful Year."
